The project wants to involve as many people as possible. That is why we distribute measuring kits over no less than 3.000 measuring points. So everyone in Brussels, individuals, families, associations, companies, organisations and schools can register.
Unfortunately this is not the case. In order for the project to succeed, we are looking for an ideal spatial distribution of the measurement locations. For example, if we receive several registrations for your street, we may need to make a choice.
No, we can only accept measuring locations within the Brussels-Capital Region. In Flanders, a similar campaign has already taken place.
Of course! The 3.000 measuring devices at our disposal allowing us to develop a very dense network of measurement locations. We can and will measure in neighbourhoods and streets with high and low traffic levels. This allows us to compare neighbourhoods and streets. So be sure to apply, whether you live in a busy or quiet street.
CurieuzenAir is an innovative scientific project with great added value for society. We think it’s important to be fully transparent about the financing of the project.
The actual cost for one measurement is € 150. This includes the measuring tubes, analysis in the lab, measuring board, printing material, transport, communication and scientific analysis of the results. The project partners, and in particular Bloomberg Philanthropies, provide more than 90% of the project budget. As a result, participants pay only 10% of the actual cost of a measurement (on average €15 per measurement site).
It is important that everyone can participate in CurieuzenAir. That is why we only ask for a small contribution, according to the pay-as-you-wish principle: a guideline amount of € 15, with a minimum of € 5. The money goes entirely to the project.
